AC/DC veteran Brian Johnson is making use of his downtime by signing on as a host for a new Planet Rock radio show.
Johnson is currently on a hiatus from the rock band after doctors warned him to quit the group's Rock or Bust World Tour or risk losing his hearing. He took medics' advice and bowed out of the trek in March (16).
However, he is now keeping busy with new radio programme The Producers, which centres on the production aspect of the music recording process. For the five-part series, Johnson has interviewed a number of famous producers, including Bob Rock, Kevin Shirley, and Roy Thomas Baker.
"Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it's great to be part of this show with Planet Rock," Johnson says. "To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock 'n' roll dynamite, is great. Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy."
"The quality of rock producers that we interviewed required a series host with rock credibility and an in-depth understanding of how producers work with bands to create a distinct sound," Planet Rock's content director Ric Blaxill adds. "Brian is without doubt the perfect person to host the series with his incredible experience as a a musician and as one of rock's most distinctive vocalists ever."
The first episode of the Sunday show premiered in the U.K. earlier this month (Jul16).
Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose has stepped in to temporarily replace the 68-year-old as the singer in AC DC to help the remaining bandmates complete their tour commitments.
