British pop star Brian Harvey's year-long investigation into a child abuse ring has led to official requests for a full-scale inquiry.

The East 17 singer has been gathering information on historic abuse claims for months and now he is sharing his research with politicians.

Harvey met Labour Mp Simon Danczuk at the House of Commons on Wednesday (07Jan15) and the politician admits he was impressed with the singer's findings.

Danczuk, who found Harvey to be "a really thoughtful person", has promised to pass relevant research to the police.

The Mp tells, "He feels quite passionately about protecting children and really wants to make a contribution.

"We know that showbusiness is an industry that's had a number of abusers within it (and) he's providing a number of leads that I'm keen to follow up and that's exactly what I'll do. I'm pleased he's done the work he's done. We had a good chat. I'd be happy and keen to meet him again."

It is not yet clear why Harvey decided to undertake the research.
