Actor Brian Cox has slammed "old" British acting veteran PETER O'TOOL for branding 2004 movie Troy a "disaster", insisting that he was confused when he made the comment.

Cox, who starred alongside O'Toole in the epic, is convinced the actor has never even seen the final cut and was actually referring to the gruelling filming schedule which took place in the deserts of Malta and Morocco.

Cox says, "He's old and tired and very talented, and he can say what he likes. But what he did was mix up the shoot and actual film.

"There was lots of waiting around and lots of sand. I think that influenced him."
