BRET MICHAELS, the American rocker and former Poison front-man, has undergone successful heart surgery at St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Centre in Phoenix, Arizona, reports the Toronto Sun. Doctors discovered that the musician had a 'hole in his heart' whilst they treated him for a brain hemorrhage.
He was joined at the hospital by his fiancee KRISTI GIBSON and their two daughters who waited anxiously for news of the procedure, however, the operation was eventually hailed a success and the rocker is currently under observation in the intensive care unit. The 47-year-old is expected to check out of hospital within the next few days and be allowed to continue his recovery from home. Before the surgery, Michaels' had attended a classic car auction on Saturday (22nd January 2011) where he told the Arizona Republic that he felt confident of a full recovery, he said, "Barring any complications, I should be out within three to four days".
The rocker proposed to his long-term girlfriend Gibson over the festive period after getting down on one knee during the filming of his reality show 'Life As I Know It'.
