POISON singer BRET MICHAELS escaped serious injury on Monday night (21NOV05) when his tour bus was fired at during a drive-by shooting.

Michaels was sitting on his tour bus prior to his invitation-only acoustic show at Chicopee, Massachusetts' Rumble Seat Bar and Grille when a shot was fired from a white pick-up truck, according to his spokesperson.

The rocker was struck in the face by broken glass, but was not seriously injured in the incident.

He says in a statement, "It is going to take more then a cowardice act like this to make me stop performing or stop my tour.

"I plan on staying out and finishing the shows as scheduled. I want to thank all of my fans in the Chicopee area for staying out last night, and I will be back.

"Hopefully, with the help of many people, we will catch the person who did this and they will be brought to justice."

Contrary to claims made by Michaels' representatives, local police have stated there is no indication that the rocker was specifically targeted.

Michaels is due to continue touring, playing a show in Cincinnati, Ohio, tonight (23NOV05) and in Columbus, Ohio, tomorrow (24NOV05).

While police say there are currently no suspects, a reward has been announced for any information leading to the arrest of those involved in the shooting, reports MTV News.

According to his representatives, Michaels has been the subject of "numerous death threats investigated by the FBI" - including one from a person who fired bullets through photographs of the singer and mailed them to him along with threatening notes.
