Acclaimed British actress Brenda Blethyn was forced to abandon filming upcoming movie remake Pride And Prejudice for four days after a wasp stung her eyelid.

The SECRETS AND LIES Oscar-nominee was so badly affected by the insect attack, her eye swelled up.

Even after Blethyn was able to resume shooting, director JOE WRIGHT insisted she be filmed from the other side of her face.

The 59-year-old says, "It was agonising, the thing stung me on the lid of my eye. It was gruesome, my face swelled up like QUASIMODO.

"My eye closed and couldn't be filmed for four days - and even then the director had to shoot my other profile."
