OSCAR-nominated actress Brenda Blethyn has blasted the lack of financial investment in the British film industry - because she believes UK performers and technicians are exceptionally talented.

According to the LITTLE VOICE star, 59, the British movie scene is struggling to stay afloat, and deserves to be invested in with more confidence.

Blethyn says, "There should be so much more investment in film in this country.

"I've worked on a British film that lost money and the producers had to scrabble for extra funds at the last minute.

"Why? Everyone says British technicians and British talent are excellent, so why is no one investing in us?"
