LATEST: Troubled R+B singer Brandy is suing another driver involved in her December (06) crash, accusing him of causing the accident which left a mother-of-two dead.
The singer/actress, real name Brandy Norwood, is facing possible charges of misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter after her car ploughed into 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj's Toyota Corolla on the San Diego Freeway in California on 30 December (06).
Another driver involved in the multi-vehicle accident, Mallory Ham, sued Norwood on Friday (25May07), accusing the star of driving in a "recklessly wantonly, unlawfully, and maliciously" manner and claims she was left "severely injured" following the collision.
In response, Norwood has filed a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing Ham of causing the accident, and also denies the allegations in the latter's lawsuit.
Norwood's lawyer Edwin MCPherson says, "She's just responding to pieces of litigation as they come in and doesn't want to comment at this time."
A California Highway Patrol report says Norwood was driving her Range Rover at 65 miles (104 kilometres)-per-hour and failed to slow down when the traffic built up, before crashing into Aboudihaj's vehicle, which was then hit by Ham's car.
Norwood and Ham are both facing civil lawsuits for reckless driving from Aboudihaj's family, while the victim's parents and two children have also sued the What About Us hitmaker.
If convicted, Norwood faces a possible one year in prison and a $1,000 (GBP500) fine.
