Brandon Flowers, frontman of rock band The Killers, is set to release his solo album 'Flamingo' in the US tomorrow, and the record is already topping the charts in the UK, going straight in at No.1. Flowers had already gained one UK Top Ten single in the form of 'Crossfire', and now the record itself is sitting pretty at the top of the album charts. The 29-year-old singer fought off stiff competition from last week's No.1 KATY PERRY, as well as Mercury Music Prize winners The XX.
Elsewhere in the official UK charts, the Manchester band Hurts entered at No.4 with their acclaimed debut album 'Happiness', and there was a No.6 spot for American rock outfit Stone Sour, who recently released their new album 'Audio Secrecy'.
Flowers announced that he was taking time off from THE KILLERS to focus on his solo record back in April 2010. On the singer's birthday, June 21st 2010, he released the single 'Crossfire' along with the video that starred Hollywood actress Charlize Theron. The album was released on September 6th 2010 in the UK, and will hit shelves in the US tomorrow (14th September 2010).
