'Ring A Ding Ding' new single
Released October 17th on Rough Trade
Ringer ding dinger, here's the latest single from Brakes. It's a tale of individualism versus collectivism, of betrayal and acceptance, of the simple eroticism of watching an ape dancing the "monkey macaroni" at the behest of a cowboy in a court. It is the tale of a man walking against the rancid, unceasing flow of cultural and political effluence, whose resistance grows weaker and weaker as the waves of cultural sewage threaten to engulf him. And, kiss my face, it rocks as well.
Since the release of their highly regarded debut album 'Give Blood', Brakes have been winning plaudits from far, wide and the plain bizarre. 'All Night Disco Party' was declared "anthem of the summer" by Italy's most popular radio station and became a huge hit in Australia, Spain, France and Malaysia. Lou Reed, Flea and Fonda 500 have all declared themselves fans, whilst the fans who actually turn up to gigs have been becoming more and more rabid, screaming the words and shouting things like "Tom! Have sex with me!"
Having reached 82 and 65 with their previous singles, Brakes have set their sights on the top five for 'Ring a Ding Ding'. Raise a glass to naive hope! Raise a glass to hard working bands! Raise a glass and chuck it in the river and throw stones at it whilst it sinks! Here's to Brakes.
'Ring A Ding Ding' will be released on 7" and CD formats. The 7" will feature the single plus B Side 'If I Should Die Tonight' whereas the CD features 'Ring A Ding Ding', 'Jackson', 'Shut Us Down' & the video for 'Ring A Ding Ding'.
