Over the weekend (12-13Dec15), multiple sources reported the singer had signed on to star alongside Cooper in the project, adding shooting would begin in January, 2017. However, Cooper has now denied the report, insisting it is "just a rumour".

"But with that said, (it) would be (an) honor obviously to work with her in any capacity," he continues.

The classic movie, which was first released in 1937, follows the story of a young singer with big dreams of success, who is signed by an alcoholic and troubled actor whose career is on a downward spiral.

The film was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland, and again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.

Beyonce was reportedly interested in the remake when it was to be directed by Clint Eastwood, but he later exited the project.

Streisand herself was reportedly interested in directing the project, but she told People magazine, "I thought, 'Been there, done that'. But I'd love to direct her (Beyonce)."

Eastwood signed up in 2011, but had to postpone the movie later that year after Beyonce fell pregnant. The Crazy In Love hitmaker has since pulled out of the project, which was put on hold again last year (13) to allow Eastwood the chance to step behind the camera for Jersey Boys.

Eastwood directed Cooper in American Sniper.
