Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt initially found the pressures of sudden fame so intense he very nearly "destroyed" himself.

The OCEAN'S ELEVEN star attained worldwide adoration following his small role in Thelma And Louise in 1991, but the 39-year-old husband of JENNIFER ANISTON now admits he didn't handle his meteoric rise well to begin with.

He says, "Fame almost would have destroyed me. I kept ordering my friends about because money and power distort your perspective."

But 18 months of therapy helped Brad come to terms with his status.

He adds, "Psychoanalysis is like a journey to yourself. For me, it was important to see how I function in order to be able to see clearly again."
