Brad Pitt is reportedly being lined up for a role in new thriller 'Riptide'.

The Oscar-nominated actor - who recently acquired the screen rights to 'The Imperfectionist', which he will produce with his company Plan B - will reportedly be joined by 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' star Shia LaBeouf in the murder mystery.

While a director has not yet been hired for the picture, The Script was originally created by 'Spooks' writer Richard McBrien, before being given a revamp by 'Frost/Nixon' scripter Peter Morgan.

The story follows the mystery of what happens to a group of people aboard a ship when a man is murdered on board.

It has not been confirmed whether Brad or Shia will take up the offers from production company Summit Entertainment, but it is believed they have already been formally propositioned for the roles, Pajiba reports.

The 'Mr and Mrs Smith' star is already lined up to work on a whole host of films over the next few months, including 'The Tree of Life' alongside Sean Penn - which is currently in post-production - and 'Moneyball', directed by Bennett Miller.

He may also take a leading role in 'The Imperfectionist', after securing rights to the film adaptation of the Tom Rachman novel alongside business partner Dede Gardner.
