Brad Pitt appeared to be in pain when spotted walking around Beverly Hills with the help of a cane on Thursday (January 5, 2012). Wearing an all-in-one black jumpsuit, the Moneyball star hobbled along the sidewalk before climbing into his car.
So why the cane? Well, the 48-year-old has apparently injured one of four ligaments that stabilizes the knee joint, with a source telling Just Jared, "He tore his Mcl". The cause of the injury is currently unclear, though rumours suggest he may have run into difficulty while filming his forthcoming movie World War Z. Cane or no cane, Brad is still expected to walk the red carpet at the 69th Annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles on January 15, 2012. The actor is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his turn as Oakland A coach Billy Beane in Moneyball. Despite receiving critical acclaim for his performance, the actor has the difficult task of beating the likes of Leonardo Dicaprio and George Clooney to the award, who are nominated for J Edgar and The Descendants respectively. The actor is also tipped to score an Oscar nomination later this month, but would no doubt face similarly tough competition come the ceremony in February.
Seemingly always on the hunt for interesting new roles, Pitt has reportedly signed on to star in Steve McQueen's 2012 drama 'Twelve Years a Slave', about a man living in New York in the 1800's who is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the deep south.
