Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt employ someone to ''monitor'' their children's use of the internet.

The 'Unknown' director has revealed she and husband Brad are wary of their children - Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - being targeted by online criminals and have therefore hired a cyber security team to protect them.

She said: ''We have someone who monitors that. It's a scary new world.''

The 39-year-old beauty and the 'Fury' actor have both refrained from creating their own accounts on social media sites such as Twitter and admit they thought it would be better to employ someone with a better knowledge of the web to ensure their children are kept safe.

She added: ''It's so beyond what we understand ... We wouldn't even know what to look for.''

The 'Maleficent' star is happy to let her children use the internet but confessed she's glad society wasn't as technologically advanced when she was a young girl.

She told People magazine: ''I got in enough trouble, it just would have been very documented.''
