Rapper ICE CUBE struggled to break into Hollywood movies because he faced disapproval over his background from every corner of the film industry. The former NWA star believes he suffered prejudice from established studios, and even experienced negativity from black people who believed he had sold out. He says, "You're gonna face old Hollywood that wants to keep the status quo and then you'll face people who don't want you in the game because you're not a thespian - you even have your own people hating you in various ways." Ice Cube made his movie debut in the acclaimed Compton, Los Angeles, drama Boyz n the Hood. He has since gone on to star alongside George Clooney in Three Kings and take over from Vin Diesel in XXX 2: THE NEXT LEVEL.
