Former CULTURE CLUB singer Boy George has blamed TV talent show AMERICAN IDOL for taking "hope and inspiration" out of music.

The KARMA CHAMELEON singer believes the popular Simon Cowell fronted show has over-simplified the true essence of making chart-topping tracks.

He says, "Music used to be full of hope and inspiration, but what American Idol has done is said, 'This is how it is now. You just add water and you become famous.'

"People don't want to change the world anymore. They just want to be famous."
