Signalling the first release proper since 2010's 'More', Booka Shade return with the 'Blackout: White Noise' EP, a statement of intent for their forthcoming fifth studio album and a body of work that affirms their place amongst electronic music's elite.
'Blackout: White Noise' sees the German duo in menacing mood. Their signature dark undertones and expert understanding of space, atmosphere and composition combine with analog warmth and classic Chicago nods to create an essential floor-ready Booka Shade moment.
The EP also sees the launch a new visual direction for the duo, collaborating with visual pioneers La Boca to create an exciting new art-deco inspired world that will be built upon with each subsequent release. To celebrate this Booka Shade are producing a stunning limited edition 12" vinyl that will be released as part of Record Store Day in April.
"We've been referencing the elegances of the 1930s to the music of the future in the hope of finding ways to visually combine the two - It's about taking the spirit of the past and applying it to the sounds of the future. This initial sleeve sets the tone of whats to come and introduces a hand-rendered 30s typeface that will develop further on future releases"
With an already busy year ahead on the live front, Booka Shade are set to play Coachella and Ultra Festival in Miami, Brixton Academy in London this June, as well as a support slot with electronic giants Depeche Mode.
