Rocker Bono has urged French leader NICOLAS SARKOZY to double aid to developing nations during a low-key visit to the President this week (ends11Jan08). The celebrity humanitarian pressed Sarkozy to stick to plans to raise development assistance to 0.7 per cent of France's gross national income by 2012. In a statement from Bono, the rock star says, "The president admitted it would be very, very hard, but France would keep her word."
