U2 frontman Bono has met with the president of Mexico to discuss poverty and drug-related crime in the country.
The Irish rocker has been in the country with the band's 360 Degree tour, and celebrated his 51st birthday in Mexico City on Tuesday (10May11). He performed with the band on Wednesday (11May11) and then met with President Felipe Calderon on Thursday (12May11).
The outspoken activist visited the presidential residence Los Pinos and talked with the country's leader about the problems facing the nation, as well as global warming. Calderon reportedly thanked Bono for talking about Mexico's drug violence on stage at the band's show on Wednesday and congratulated him on his birthday, according to the Associated Press.
