U2 frontman Bono is to meet with Europe's political leaders in Dublin, Ireland, today (01JUN04) to urge them to extend debt relief programmes for the world's poorest countries.

The PRIDE (IN THE NAME OF LOVE) singer - who told a United States Congressional hearing he was ashamed by Europe's poor support for sanctions against military-ruled Burma earlier this month (MAY04) - will meet European Union (EU) ministers to discuss issues.

EU development ministers are currently undecided on whether to pursue a policy of debt relief or one based on targeted aid for the world's poorest nations.
