Crusading rocker Bono used the start of U2's Australian tour yesterday (07NOV06) to attack the US government's detention of Australia's only terror suspect held at Guantanamo Bay. The singer spoke out during a rendition of SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY in Brisbane, calling for alleged Taliban fighter DAVID HICKS, 31, to be tried at home instead. He revealed he's working closely with human rights organisation Amnesty Interantional to secure the repatriation. Bono told the 50,00-strong audience, "In our 20s, we used to do a lot of work for Amnesty and tonight we're still working for them. "We're calling for David Hicks to be brought back to Australia to face fair trial here." Hicks has been held at the Cuba military base for almost five years without trial.
