Goldberg, the chief executive of SurveyMonkey.com and husband of leading Facebook.com figure Sheryl Sandberg, sustained severe head injuries while exercising in a hotel gym in Mexico and he died in hospital on Friday (01May15), aged 47.

It is believed Goldberg fell and hit his head while using a treadmill.

Around 1,700 friends, colleagues and technology industry bosses packed out the Memorial Auditorium at Stanford University in California on Tuesday (05May15) for the service.

Among the mourners was Goldberg's widow and her Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, as well as Lucas and Affleck, who once worked with the late businessman on a humanitarian project in Africa.

U2 frontman Bono sang his band's track One at the service and changed the lyrics slightly in a nod to Goldberg's Jewish religion.
