Irish band THE SCRIPT have revealed they have a new celebrity fan – Bono.

The band's debut record was released last August and is currently number one on the album chart.

However, frontman Danny O'Donoghue said he was overcome with nerves when he met the U2 singer at a Coldplay concert in Dublin last year.

"Out of respect to him I want to keep exactly what he said private but he gave us praise and said he liked the band, in front of Coldplay," he told the Daily Star.

"I had a couple of glasses of wine because I was so nervous."

Danny added that he was angling for a support slot with COLDPLAY after he had seen them perform live.

"I was about to hand the CD to Guy Berryman but he said he didn't need one as he'd already heard it and liked us," he added.

Meanwhile, U2 recently unveiled their new song, Get On Your Boots, from their forthcoming 12th album NO LINE ON THE HORIZON.
