Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has come out in support of James Blunt amid a raging class war debate in the U.K.

Controversial British Member of Parliament (Mp) Chris Bryant hit headlines last week (ends18Jan15) after taking aim at the You're Beautiful hitmaker over his privileged background.

The remarks prompted a furious response from Blunt, who branded the politician "prejudiced" and a "classist gimp", and sparked a national debate in the U.K. over class issues in art, and now Tyler has spoken out to back her fellow singer.

The Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker insists anyone has the chance to succeed in showbusiness regardless of their upbringing, telling Tv show Loose Women, "I'm from a big family - three sisters, two brothers - and I have had to work for everything I've achieved, but I don't think it makes any difference. If you have got the energy and will to follow your dreams, it doesn't matter if you're working class or very privileged. It's what you do (that matters)."
