Soul legend Bobby Womack has been given the all-clear after undergoing cancer surgery on his colon.
The 69-year-old singer/songwriter was diagnosed with the early stages of colon cancer in March (12), but it appears he has beaten the disease - just weeks before the release of his first studio album in 18 years, The Bravest Man in the Universe.
A post on the Across 110th Street singer's Facebook.com reads, "We're delighted to announce that Bobby Womack has successfully undergone surgery for suspected colon cancer.
"A tumour was removed last night which turned out to be cancer free. We wish him all the best in his recovery from the operation. Thank you for all your kind messages and support."
Womack has previously battled prostate cancer.
