British soccer legend Sir Bobby Charlton was hospitalised on Thursday (02Oct14) after suffering a health scare at a golf tournament.
The World Cup-wining star was playing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland alongside celebrities including actor Bill Murray when he fell ill.
He complained of stomach pains and concerned attendees called an ambulance, but the 76 year old initially refused to be taken to Ninewells Hospital.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "It was typical of Sir Bobby. He turned out for a charity golf event and, when he had a bit of a turn, was determined to carry on. Others thought different and an ambulance was called. He refused point blank to get in but was then persuaded to let the doctors check him over."
After a check-up, Charlton was discharged and returned home.
