The 45-year-old became a father for the second time on 1 February (16) when the Bridesmaids actress gave birth to their first child together, and during a chat with People magazine, the star opened up about how the family is getting on.

"We’re just really, really over the moon,” he grinned. “We’re in bliss right now."

Revealing his actress partner is "incredible", Bobby added, "She’s beautiful and wonderful and he’s a beautiful boy.”

Bobby first shared the baby news during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on 5 February, but now he's releasing a few more details, including the fact the kid's middle name is Robin.

"We just love the name,” he added. “His middle name is her dad’s name, Robin, and we liked the way it rang together.”

In even more good news, Bobby, who also has a 20-year-old son called Jake from his marriage to actress Jenny Lumet, recently learned his gritty TV drama Vinyl has been picked up for a second series.

"I just had a new baby, so I felt very excited to have a job for another year," he quipped.

The HBO drama about the music industry in the mid to late-1970s also stars Olivia Wilde and is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, and Bobby recently told Rolling Stone how he tried to impress the singer in their first meeting.

"I remember being really freaked out about what the lighting should look like in my living room," he said of the Skype call. "I was like, 'I want him to think I'm cool.' So I wore black, you know? Black's rock & roll."

However, Mick felt the actor came across as too intense and it took another face-to-face meeting and a video of Michael Jackson to seal the deal.

"Michael does the moonwalk and people go crazy, and then Prince is carried through the crowd on the back of his bodyguard," Bobby explained of the clip. "I showed it to Jagger, and he died. We must have watched it 10 times. I felt like, 'Oh, we're good now.'"
