Lomas spoke for the first time about the drug-fuelled life Bobbi Kristina, daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, reportedly led in the days before she was found face down in the bathtub, in circumstances which eerily echoed the death of her mother.

It was Lomas who found Bobbi Kristina in the bathtub in January 2015 after a night of drug taking with her boyfriend Nick Gordon. He had lived with Whitney and Bobbi after being taken in by the I Will Always Love You singer as a troubled teen.

"(Whitney) loved that we were dating and always wanted me to protect Krissy," explained Lomas to People Magazine.

Lomas previously dated Bobbi Kristina until he was sent to prison for a probation violation. And after their relationship ended, he lived with his ex and Nick, on and off during their relationship. Following his release, Gordon, 26, and Bobbi Kristina began a fraught relationship full of highs and lows, and jealousy-fuelled fights.

"We were all pretty bad into drugs," said Lomas about life with the couple in the aftermath of her mother's death. And he also revealed how Bobbi Kristina had vowed to quit drugs weeks before the tragic incident that lead to her death.

"We all decided that we were going to get off drugs, live healthier lifestyles. We all went to the gym together," he explained. "But it didn't work out. We started using again."

Bobbi Kristina passed away on 26 July (15), almost six months after she was found in the bathtub at her Georgia home.

She had suffered brain damage and died of pneumonia resulting from intoxication from drugs, including a cocaine-related substance, marijuana and alcohol, and her face being immersed in water, according to the medical examiner.

Her death remains under investigation but no charges have been filed as yet.

However, the conservator of her estate has filed a $10 million (£7.6 million) civil lawsuit against Nick, which contains a wrongful death allegation and accusations he abused her. Nick has denied any wrongdoing.
