The Billboard Music Awards came live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this past weekend, with the A-listers out in force for one of the biggest nights on the music industry calendar. One of the highlights of the evening came when Bobbi Kristina accepted the Millennium Award on behalf of her mother Whitney Houston, who passed away three months ago.
Though it was an emotional night for Bobbi, her evening was blighted by a drama involving her family and her mother's reported ex-boyfriend Ray J. According to E! Online, the rapper was seated in the same area as Houston's family during the awards show, which they were unhappy about, even going so far as threatening to have him arrested. According to an eyewitness, the cops actually arrived at the scene, though no arrests were made. A representative for the Houston family denied the account of the evening, saying that claims they tried to get Ray J handcuffed were "completely untrue", adding, "They were there to honor Whitney-that was the only focus they had for the evening. Ray J wasn't even a thought. Billboard Awards did all the seating and the Houstons never had any issues of any kind".
During her emotional speech paying tribute to her late mother's fans, Bobbi said, "Thank you so much for showing that much love. Because she deserved it...There will never be another one, ever".
