SIR Bob Geldof wanted to turn down the lead role in Pink Floyd movie THE WALL, because he "f**king hates Pink Floyd".

The former Boomtown Rat went on to play PINK in the 1982 film.

But Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason discovered Geldof was a reluctant star.

He says, "Bob and his manager took a taxi ride to the airport, during which Bob's manager was telling him that an offer had come in for him to play the role of Pink in the film, and that he really ought to consider it as a great career move.

"Bob erupted along of he lines of, 'F**k that, I f**king hate Pink Floyd.'

"What Bob didn't know was that the cab driver was my brother."
