SIR Bob Geldof has been voted the celebrity most likely to inspire British people to get involved in charity work.

The former Boomtown Rats frontman, famed for his Band Aid fundraising efforts, topped a MORI poll carried out to mark the coming Year of the Volunteer (05).

He beat competition from comedian Lenny Henry, athlete Kelly Holmes and British television presenter Lorraine Kelly.
