Bob Dylan has co-written a song for KISS star Gene Simmons' upcoming solo album, which could be the most unlikely collaboration of the year.

The bass player admits he had been pestering Dylan to write him a tune for years, and now his persistence has paid off.

The odd couple teamed up to write WAITING FOR THE MORNING LIGHT during a day-long session at Simmons' Hollywood home six years ago - and now it will surface on the rocker's new solo project.

Simmons recalls, "Bob came up with the chords, most of them, and then I took it and wrote lyrics, melody and the rest of it.

"I'd then see him on tour, and I'd say, `Bob, you wanna write the song?' And he would say, `No, man, you write it, Mr Kiss.'

Simmons' new album will also feature collaborations with John Mellencamp and Axl Rose.
