Porky's Review

OK
Does anyone even remember what Porky's is about? The movie's story (as it is) has become a punchline that sex comedies are compared to. But what's it about? Name one character. OK, besides Pee Wee (the irrepressible Dan Monahan). And Porky, of course. His name's in the title.

I'm willing to bet most people don't even remember Porky as a person at all. For the amnesiacs out there (and given the overally quality of Porky's, you're forgiven for that), Porky is a fat guy that runs a sort of night club/strip joint/brothel on the edge of the movie's small Florida town. (It was filmed in Fort Lauderdale.) At the local high school, we meet a bunch of guys. There's Pee Wee and the burley Meat, plus frat-boys-in-the-making Billy, Tommy, Mickey, and, uh... you get the picture.

It Runs In The Family (1994) Review

Weak
This lackluster sequel to A Christmas Story features none of the same cast (Kieran Culkin plays Ralphie) and little of the same charm. This one focuses on summer hijinks a few months later -- dad (now Charles Grodin) is still angry, there's about 30 hillbillies living next door, the guys go fishing, and some kind of charlatan is working in the local movie hall. Not funny, really, and Grodin is downright scary.

Black Christmas (1974) Review

Good
"If this picture doesn't make your skin crawl... it's on too tight!"

So went the promo tagline for Black Christmas, the 1974 cult horror classic which might have had epidermal layers on the go 30 years ago... but which feels pretty tame today.

Baby Geniuses Review

Terrible
Is it possible for a movie to be insulting from beginning to end, without pause at all along the way? As it turns out, yes indeed! Baby Geniuses, widely hailed as one of the worst movies of the 1990s, if not one of the worst of all time, would be completely forgettable if it weren't so deeply disturbing. Medical experimentation on human babies, now there's a movie idea for ya! And adopting Babe-like morphing to make these babies appear to speak is just plain wrong.
