Gwyneth Paltrow's 72-year-old mum's latest project, I'll See You In My Dreams, marks her very first part as the main character in a feature film.

After the romantic comedy debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (Jan15), the audience not only gave the movie a standing ovation, but critics starting buzzing about Danner's possible nomination at the Oscars next year (15).

The response reinforced a belief Danner had for years, that other seasoned actresses around her age are ready to take the lead role in films, and audiences are just as ready to see it.

Danner tells Access Hollywood, "We have a lot of great ladies who've already set the path - even older than I am the Maggie Smiths and Judy Denches - Meryl (Streep)'s younger than all of us - Susan Sarandon, there's a lot of us. More and more women are really giving great performances."
