Blur rocker DAVE ROWNTREE is taking his political ambitions to the next level - he's to stand for the British Labour party in the next general election. The drummer has previously attempted to change career and become a councillor for London's Westminster City Council, but he failed to gain enough votes when he stood in the April 2007 elections. However, Rowntree - who is currently training to be a barrister - has been selected by the Cities of London and Westminster Constituency Labour Party to stand for office in the forthcoming elections. If he does succeed in becoming a member of the British Parliament (MP) and beat the favourite, the Conservative Party's Mark Field, it is likely to delay any chance of a Blur reunion with his former bandmates Damon Albarn, Alex James and Graham Coxon for several years.
