The 71-year-old frontwoman is currently promoting her legendary rock band's new album Pollinator, and her interest in the stinging insect species isn't just for creative inspiration – she is serious about helping the dwindling honey bee population.
"I’m going to get some hives this year," she tells U.K. newspaper the Sunday People at the Elle Style Awards. "I want to help the bee community."
Debbie isn't only concerned about the environment – the star is also getting stuck into social activism.
Wearing a badge with the words 'Politicians Are Criminals' emblazoned on it, the rocker reveals she holds solidarity with her fellow Americans who have decided to take the streets to protest new U.S. President Donald Trump: “Activism is more important now, that is the lesson we are learning," she notes, "I think it is about finding yourself and being yourself and fighting for it and having that strength.”
"He was not part of the New York scene back in the day," the guitarist recalled. "Everybody thought he was an a**hole.
“Debbie met him a few years ago and he thought she was too short for him. So he said ‘hello’ and moved on. That was a lucky escape, I guess."
Stein added he is pretty concerned about the policies Trump and his administration have been dishing out, especially his so-called 'Muslim-ban'.
"It is pretty grim," Chris laments. "We’ll be playing back here in London in December and we are not sure if we will be allowed back in the U.S.”
