Bloc Party have announced their signing to North American label Frenchkiss. The announcement came at the same time as the band revealed that they were working on a follow up to the 2008 album Intimacy.
In a statement released on the band's Tumblr page, frontman Kele Okereke said: 'It is with great pleasure that i would like to announce to the universe that Bloc Party have now signed to Frenchkiss Records. This signing has made Bloc Party very happy because not only do we know and love the people at this label but we know and love this label's output. Frenchkiss has released some mighty fine music over the years, music that has gone on to influence this very band. So here's to some more mighty fine music.'
Syd Butler, spokesman for Frenchkiss, expressed his delight at signing the band: 'They are in the best spirits and we are lucky to be working with such professionals, friends and ambassadors. Their parents raised them right. We all know they make phenomenal records and we are honored that the next one will be on Frenchkiss.'
Bloc Party formed in 1999 but released their debut single, She's Hearing Voices, in 2003. Their debut album, Silent Alarm, was released in 2005 and received critical acclaim. Their second album, A Weekend in the City, was released in 2007 but received mixed reviews. Intimacy, on the other hand, earned positive reviews.
