British rockers Bloc Party were so horrified by the 7/7 bombings on London's transport network last summer (05), they wrote a song about the experience. Frontman Kele Okereke admits he was stunned to find his local bus was blown up in the terrorist attack, which also targetted three underground trains, and wrote HUNTING FOR WITCHES to help him cope in the aftermath of the tragedy. And the singer also uses the track to slam the British press for cashing in on the attacks and prolonging public anxiety. He says, "The 30 bus in Hackney, which is just around the corner from where I live, was blown up. "(Hunting For Witches was) written when I was just observing the reactions of the mainstream press in (Britain). "I guess the point about the song for me is post-September 11th, the media has really traded on fear and the use of fear in controlling people."
