Blake Fielder-Civil could have saved his ex-girlfriend Amy Winehouse should he have been allowed to, according to his father Larry. Fielder-Civil and the late singer ended their turbulent marriage in 2009.
Speaking to, Blake's father said his son knew better than anyone "the depth of Amy's drug addiction" and had planned to intervene once he was released from prison - he is currently serving 32 months for burglary and firearms offenses. Winehouse's family had spoken of their wish for Blake to stay away from Tuesday's funeral, with the singer's mother telling breakfast show 'Daybreak', "I think he has to take his portion of blame.I can't say whether or not Amy did drugs prior to meeting Blake, I can't. I think that's something that nobody will ever really know. But yes, in my heart I think that Blake has to take a portion of blame". However, Larry claims his son called him and was "crying hysterically" shortly after Winehouse had died.
Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in Camden, north London on Saturday (23rd July 2011). A post-mortem seeking to determine the cause of death has taken place but the results are yet to be made public.
