Country rocker Billy Ray Cyrus has cancelled his slot at an Australian music festival after falling sick.

The Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker, father of singer/actress Miley Cyrus, was due to appear at the CMC Rocks The Hunter country festival early next month (Mar13), but has pulled out for "medical reasons".

Cyrus has not revealed the nature of his illness, but reports suggest he is suffering an ear condition.

Organisers of the festival have confirmed his departure from the bill and revealed they are desperately searching for a replacement act.

A statement reads, "We have been advised by Billy Ray Cyrus' representative that due to medical reasons, he will no longer be able to perform at the festival this March. Stay tuned for details on which Australian act will be added to the bill, as we are too close to the festival to be able to secure visas for another international artist."

The festival kicks off in New South Wales' Hunter Valley on 15 March (13). Other artists on the bill include Rascal Flatts, Big & Rich and The Band Perry.
