Rocker Billy Preston is fighting for his life after the failure of a kidney transplant.

The NOTHING FROM NOTHING singer has been told he's dying as he fights life without a kidney on a dialysis machine, but he refuses to have another transplant.

Preston, who worked with both the Beatles and THE Rolling Stones in the 1960s is also battling high blood pressure and diabetes.

The rock legend, 57, was told he needed a kidney transplant a year ago (02) and he was so upset with the news of his failing health he reportedly went into hiding at a friend's home in Los Angeles, so he wouldn't have to talk about his problems.

A friend says, "Billy is failing quickly. He's very thin and has trouble keeping food down. He refuses to discuss his prognosis, but it's clear he's growing weaker by the day."
