GRAMMY-winning composer and trumpeter Billy May has died of heart failure. He was 87.

May, who arranged such jazz standards as CHEROKEE, TAKE THE 'A' TRAIN and SERENADE IN BLUE, played trumpet and arranged for the GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA, before leading his own orchestra.

May was one of the last old school arrangers to work with Frank Sinatra, with whom he composed COME FLY WITH ME.
