Billy Joel should seriously consider getting rehabilitation, according to his friend Sir Elton John.
BILLY JOEL has been sent a tough message from his friend Sir ELTON JOHN, urging the singer to "do something better" with his life, reports The Press Association.
Sir ELTON JOHN makes the comments in the 17th February 2011 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, and also discusses how the pair cancelled many past tours because of Joel's illnesses and "alcoholism". The 60-year-old urges Joel to approach rehabilitation in the same way that he did, with patients "cleaning floors" instead of "watching television". The 'Uptown Girl' singer spent time in a Californian rehab centre for alcohol abuse back in 2005, and previously spent around two weeks in a Connecticut centre in 2002. Sir Elton, who recently welcomed a son named 'Zachary' via a surrogate mother, added that his friend Joel would "hate him" for his comments but that he needed "tough love".
Joel, who is yet to respond to the comments, toured extensively with Elton during the pair's 'Face to Face' shows back in 1994. They are regarded as being the most successful concert tandem in pop music history and during one 24 date sold out tour, they reportedly grossed over $46 million.
