Country singer BILLY CURRINGTON has been indicted on charges of threatening an elderly man in Georgia earlier this month (Apr13).
The People Are Crazy hitmaker is accused of making making terroristic threats and abusing an elderly person following an altercation with 70-year-old tour boat captain Charles Ferrelle on 15 April (13).
A Chatham County grand jury indicted Currington on Wednesday (24Apr13), and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to the district attorney's office.
Currington has taken to his Twitter.com page to address the issue, thanking fans for their messages of support but insisting he could not offer any further details on the issue.
He writes, "Hey guys, I wanted to thank everyone for the huge amount of support that I have received already. Unfortunately, I can't comment on this situation as this is an ongoing legal matter. It means a lot to me to have your support during this time."
Editors at Tmz.com report that the bust-up occurred after Currington accused Ferrelle of driving his boat too near to the dock at his home on the edge of Georgia's Back River.
