Rocker Billy Corgan has asked fans to donate to an online fundraising campaign to help cover the costs for a new album by the singer daughter of 1970s musician Billy Swan.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman is stepping behind the soundboard to work on Sierra Swan's project and he has reached out to his followers in a bid to give the vocalist's initiative a boost.

He writes, "Please help support an album I'm producing for the grreat @SierraSwan".

Swan, who was briefly a member of the Black Eyed Peas before Fergie joined the band in the early 2000s, has offered up rewards in exchange for generous donations, with prizes ranging from a signed copy of the new album, a personal phone call from the singer and a private concert with the star herself - and she has vowed to hand over a portion of the proceeds to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Appealing for backers, she states, "I am very excited to announce that I have finished writing my 4th album! I can't wait to share the new material with all of you. But in order to do this, I will need your help.

"As you know, recording a record takes a lot of time, a lot of love, and well, money... I have come up with a few standard ways to raise money and a few unique ones as well... As you know, the album cannot be executed until the money is raised so please be patient. Understand it will take a moment to get most of these exclusives to your door - but they Will get there...

"One of the definite highlights of this project is the fact that my dear friend Billy Corgan, whose love, support and immense talent will be so much a part of this album, will be stepping into the producer's chair. I feel blessed and extremely lucky to have him on board. Join me in the making of this album!"
