Billy Bob Thornton's estranged daughter Amanda Brumfield has been convicted of aggravated manslaughter in the death of her friend's baby daughter, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Billy Bob Thornton, an Oscar-nominated actor best known for his roles in 'Monster's Ball' and 'Pushing Tin' no longer has contact with Amanda.
The verdict was handed down to the 32-year-old last Friday (27th May 2011), where she was found guilty of manslaughter but not guilty of first-degree murder. Brumfield was convicted in the same courthouse where Casey Anthony is being tried for murder. Billy Bob's daughter, who was babysitting 1-year-old Olivia Madison Garcia in October 2008, said the child's death was an accident. She claimed Olivia had simply fallen a short distance out of a playpen. However, prosecutors said such a fall would not account for a fracture found on the girl's skull, nor for the bleeding and swelling of the brain. Brumfield is scheduled to return to court for sentencing in July 2011.
Despite his numerous award-winning performances, Billy Bob Thornton is perhaps best known for his short-lived marriage to Angelina Jolie. The couple, who were noted for their often bizarre displays of affection, divorced in 2003.
