Billy Bob Thornton has signed on to star in the Tv adaptation of cult Coen Brothers movie Fargo.

The Oscar nominee will play Lorne Malvo, a role based on Steve Buscemi's original character from the 1996 Oscar-nominated film, which also featured Frances MCDormand and William H. MACy.

The Coen brothers will executive produce the Fx network project.

Fx Networks CEO John Landgraf says, "It's hard to describe how remarkably true to the film it is. I think people are going to be entranced with that show."
