Billy Bob Thornton has lashed out at "music snobs" who slated his first album, PRIVATE RADIO, giving it little chance to succeed.

The MONSTER'S BALL star had hoped his country cross-over album - which featured an ode to his estranged wife ANGELINA JOLIE - would be a hit, but he feels critics were determined to make sure it wasn't.

He says, "When some singer who sucks wants to do a movie, that's cool, but if an actor wants to make a record he gets crucified.

"That's because music business people are snobs. They're creepy. They're such a**holes that they never want to be on your side."
