Only days following the surprising announcement that Lachlan Murdoch, the onetime News Corp heir apparent, was paying more than $100 million for a half interest in an Australian radio network, the London Financial Times reported today (Monday) that he is close to making a joint bid to buy most of Nielsen Business Media, which publishes the entertainment trade magazines The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, and Adweek , among others. Murdoch's company Illyria is reportedly partnering with Pluribus Capital Management, described by the FT as "a new entity," featuring several prominent British and American investors. They have reportedly offered the private-equity firms that currently control the Nielsen Company $70 million for the publications.
